Prelude:

Surat Yusuf (12/108) “Say: This is my Way: I call on Allah with sure knowledge. I and whosoever follows me - Glory be to Allah! - and I am not of the idolaters.”

Surat Fussilat (41/33) “And who speaks better than he who calls to Allah while he himself does good, and says: I am surely of those who are Muslims?

Abdullah Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) narrated that the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhe wa sallum) said “Bulighoo ‘anee wa lou ayah: convey on my behalf even one single verse”. Reported by Al-Bukhari

While reading the verses translated above and the hadeeth, I cann’t help but remember Sheikh Ahmed Deedat who spent the bulk of his adult life working hard on applying these verses and ahadeeth. In my view, Sheikh Deedat lived

these Quranic injunctions and fully applied the command of our beloved Prophet (salla Allahu alayhe wa sallum) “convey on my behalf even one single verse”.

Biography and Beginnings:

Sheikh Ahmed Hoosen Deedat was born in 1918 in the Surat district of India, when he was 9 years old he emigrated to South Africa to be with his father who has emigrated shortly after his birth. In South Africa, Sheikh Deedat went to school for 7 years, then due to financial needs, he quit school and began working. One of his work places happened to adjoin a missionary school “Adam’s House”, (Cont. on p.3)
